Training Events

The Modeling the Future Challenge works with regional University Partners to host training events for educators and students across the country. Check out the events with our current University Partners below. At each event you will learn how to use the Modeling the Future Challenge with your students as well as learning about exciting resources from the University and the college and career opportunities for your students using mathematical modeling and actuarial science. Training events are free and open to any and all high school educators. To participate simply click to the registration link for your local event.

 

Youngstown State University Training Event

Date: June 13, 1pm to 2:30pm

In this training event, high school educators and parents will be introduced to the Modeling the Future Challenge, and learn about the opportunities to pursue mathematical modeling and actuarial science as a college major and career. Youngstown State University faculty will guide participants through the process of the Modeling the Future Challenge, and provide sample questions, while also introducing participants to the university's mathematics department.

Participating educators will be provided with sample questions and an Educator's Guide to the Modeling the Future Challenge, and will also gain valuable knowledge about how to help engage their students in math modeling through the resources at Youngstown State University and the Modeling the Future Challenge.

Drake University Training Event

Date: June 7, 11 AM – 12:30 PM with lunch provided

In this training event, area high school educators will learn about the actuarial profession and Drake’s actuarial science program.  In addition, participants will be introduced to the Modeling the Future Challenge, a real-world mathematical analysis competition for high-school students culminating in a national Symposium and college scholarship prizes.  Educator grants are also available.  Drake actuarial faculty and students are available as mentors for the Challenge, as are industry professionals.


 

UW- Eau Claire Training Event
