Congrats to the 2023 MTFC Semifinalists!

The Actuarial Foundation is proud to announce the semifinalists in the 2022-2023 Modeling the Future Challenge, a national scholarship competition giving  high school students the opportunity to predict the future and solve world problems. Student participants in the Challenge take on the role of aspiring actuaries by completing a math modeling project and presenting their research to a panel of actuary judges for an opportunity to win up to $60,000 in scholarship awards.

Selected from a total of 230 teams of high school juniors and seniors from across the country, 520 students making up 111 teams have qualified to move on to the next phase of the Challenge where they will develop their Project Reports. The semifinalist teams can be seen here: www.mtfchallenge.org/semifinalists.

The 2022-2023 Modeling the Future Challenge is once again an open-theme, allowing students to identify their own topics for their research projects. Topics for this year’s Challenge range from a study of invasive plant species in California to drug overdose death interventions. Teams are tasked with analyzing historic data and making models following the Actuarial Process in order to compete for one of 12 spots as finalists.

Congratulations again to all of our semifinalists!
